When The Williamsburg Foundation decided to create a book about the flowers and herbs grown in Colonial America and featured in the gardens of Colonial Williamsburg today, the Foundation spared no expense. The result, this book, is a treasure with some of the most exquisite flower and herb photography ever exhibited and certainly some of the best research ever made available to the public on this subject. Lawrence Griffith is the Curator of Plants for Colonial Williamsburg and Barbara Lombardi is a Staff Photographer with The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Together, the two of them had the extraordinary access to and the perfect venue for creating an exceptional piece of horticultural literature, and they took this rare opportunity seriously and passionately. Their knowledge, efforts and talents have produced one of the finest pieces of literature ever created on this subject matter. Every gardener who keeps a personal library should have a copy of this book.
