This is a very white, 9-10 inch diameter, 10-20 lb pumpkin
whose bright orange flesh is excellent for eating. This pumpkin experiences
less "bluing" than other white pumpkins.Great for a spooky
Halloween garden.
This was Gordys favorite tomato. It is by far the biggest
tomato that we have seen. It was gigantic- easily 3 pounds. Equally amazing
though, is that this tomato has great flavor and its flesh has wonderful
texture, not the grainy texture that many big tomatoes have. This tomato
originated in Arkansas, as its name indicates, but little else is known. Some
of our seed was provided to us by LOVE APPLE FARM, Santa Cruz County,
California. LOVE APPLE FARM is the leading provider of premier heirloom
tomatoes in Santa Cruz County. The vines grow 6-8 feet and produce
single, 1-3 pound fruit.
Radish Easter Egg
Tomatoes Black From Tula
Radishes are excellent container vegetables and the Easter Egg
collection is the best assortment of red, pink, purple and white. This collection
can be planted several times throughout the season.
This is one of our favorites because it is a beautiful, distinctive
looking fruit with the deepest red flesh that looks and tastes tantalizing and
rich. This tomato originally came from the Ukraine.Vines may grow to a height
of 6-8 feet and fruit is produced singly weighing approximately 10-12 ounces.
Radish Red Meat
Tomatoes Czech's Bush
This is a MUST HAVE. This is the most beautiful radish I have
ever seen. The large round bulbs have a green skin but the flesh is a bright
pink. The radishes are very sweet. These radishes can only be planted in late
summer or fall. If planted in spring, they will bolt before forming the radish.
This really is a Czechoslovakian tomato. The plants are stocky,
perfect for containers, and produce heavy yields of 4-6 oz. round, red fruit.
Good flavor and only 70 days to maturity from transplant.
Spinach Bloomsdale Long Standing
Tomatoes Dr. Caroline
This slow bolting, vigorous spinach was
introduced by Landreth in 1826. Even today it is the most popular,
nonhybrid spinach sold. The leaves are tender and richly flavored. The
plants will do well sown in early spring or late summer.
Of all the tomatoes that we tasted none equaled Dr. Carolyn.
This medium-sized, creamy -white, cherry tomato has the most unbelievably
sweet fruity flavor of any tomato that I have ever eaten. It is a sport of Galinas,
a Siberian tomato, and is named for Carolyn Male, author of 100 Heirloom
Tomatoes for the American Garden. Some of our seed was provided to us by
LOVE APPLE FARM, Santa Cruz County, California. LOVE APPLE FARM
is the leading provider of premier heirloom tomatoes in Santa Cruz County.
Vines may grow to a height of 6-8 feet and fruit is produced prolifically in
clusters of 8-10 tomatoes.
Spinach Climbing Spinach (Red Malabar)
Tomatoes German Red Strawberry
This is a MUST HAVE for the patio
gardener. Not a true spinach, but a vigorous vine whose leaves resemble
spinach and have a mild swiss chard taste. Use sparingly in salads or with
cooked greens. The vines can be easily trellised. The deep red-purple stems
are a beautiful contrast to the shiny dark green leaves.
I LOVE this tomato. It is a positively
beautiful tomato to look at. It has a rich, sweet flavor and lovely fragrance.
This tomato originated in Germany.Vines grow 4-6 feet and fruit is large,
in the one pound range, and produced in clusters of two or three.
Spinach Strawberry Spinach
Tomatoes Gold Nugget
This is a very showy compact plant that has been grown
in Europe for centuries. Not a true spinach, the leaves are very nutritious in
salads and the red mulberry-like fruits can be dried or used fresh.
This is an early, prolific, golden cherry tomato with delicious
flavor. It is the only container, golden cherry that I know of. Plants are quite
compact and very heavy producers.
Summer Squash Lemon
Tomatoes Green Giant
This is the size, shape and color of a lemon and can be grown on a
trellis on the patio. The small fruit are very tasty and are especially good sautéed.
This is a huge tomato with brillant green shoulders and a lime
green body, but the most amazing thing about this tomato is its outstanding
flavor. What a great tomato- all that flavor in a 1-2 pound fruit! Our seed
was provided to us by LOVE APPLE FARM, Santa Cruz County, California.
LOVE APPLE FARM is the leading provider of premier heirloom tomatoes
in Santa Cruz County. Unlike other green tomatoes which must turn yellow
on the bottom before they are ripe, Green Giant is ripe when it is lime
green. The vines grow 4-6 feet in height and produce single, 1-2 pound
fruit.
Summer Squash Zucchini Dark Green
Tomatoes Green Zebra
This is one of the earliest varieties. The bush habit
makes this an excellent container plant. Fruits have good flavor and should
be harvested at 7".
This tomato is a visually distinctive fruit with dark green stripes
set against a light green to yellow background. The flesh is a very bright green.
The taste is slightly acidic, but sometimes sweet. The 2-3 ounce fruit grow in
clusters of 4-6. The vines grow 3-5 feet in height.
Winter Squash Ponca Butternut
Tomatoes Nebraska Wedding
It is difficult to find winter squash that can be container
grown. This is one of the few great choices. The vines are quite compact, but
they produce high yields of small (2 lb.) butternut squash with tan skins and
deep orange flesh.
A unique patio tomato! The 36" plants do need staking,
but they thrive in containers and are good producers of tasty, beautiful, orange,
3-4 in. round fruit that grow in clusters.
